Maria Sharapova is one of just 10 female tennis players to have won the career Grand Slam, having claimed all four of the world’s major singles titles, at Wimbledon and the Australian, French (twice) and US Opens. Her first Grand Slam title was at Wimbledon as a 17-year-old in 2004 and now, 12 years later, she has become one of the biggest stars in world sport. She won a silver medal in singles at the Olympic Games London 2012, where she was also the Russian flag-bearer at the Opening Ceremony, and is now aiming to go one better in Rio.
