In the short story 'Virtually True' by Paul Stewart, Micheal encountered Black-Eyed Jed in the game Wildwest. Michael was a Sheriff who was walking around the centre of the town. He entered a saloon and ordered a glass of Sarsaparilla. Just then, he heard a loud crash and spun around to see Black-Eyed Jed standing in the doorway. He said that the town wasn't big enough for the both of them and challenged Micheal to come outside and fight with him.
