before the telegram: she felt depressed and heart broken. every action of expressed it: her quick grimace to the Science Mistress, her choice of the Lament and ignoring the crysanthemum by Mary Beazley are the proofs of the emotional turmoil in her mind.further as the class proceeded she remembered about every word of the letter and felt the pain searing through her heart.
after the telegram : the mood was in complete contrast to her initial mood- she took the crysanthemum...taught a song of commemoration and sang such that her voice appeared most likely among the girls
