❍ The " Respiratory System " is proven to be derived from " Endoderm ".

❍ Whether aquatic or terrestrial, all mammals use atmospheric air for the fulfilment of their respirational needs.

❍ The human respiratory system consists of the following organs –

  • Nostrils

  • Nasal cavity

  • Nasopharynx

  • Larynx

  • Trachea

  • Bronchi

  • Bronchioles

  • Alveoli

  • Lungs

  • Diaphragm

❍ The nose is the first of the respiratory passages through which, the inspired air passes.

❍ The nasal cavity consists of a large irregular cavity, which is divided by a septum.

❍ The nasopharynx lies behind the nasal cavity, above the level of the soft palate.

❍ The " Glottis " is an opening in the floor of the pharynx leading to the larynx.

" Epiglottis " is the structure thats prevent the entry of food into the respiratory tract during swallowing.
