Describe some features of catalysis by zeolites.
Answers
The Zeolites are generally the alumino silicates and it has micro pores.
The Zeolites act as the shape selective catalyst.
It has the extended 3D networks of the silicates. It has a similar structure like honeycomb.
The reactions which take place in the Zeolites, are very sensitive to pores.
The Zeolites are generally used in the petrochemical industries.
Features of catalysis by Zeolites : (i) Zeolites are hydrated alumino silicates which have a three dimensional network structure containing water molecules in their pores. (ii) To use them as catalysts, they are heated so that water of hydration present in the pores is lost and the pores become vacant.Read more on Sarthaks.com - https://www.sarthaks.com/15715/describe-some-features-of-catalysis-by-zeolites
