1: each village was given its land by the earth so in exchange they would make offerings to them in each agricultural festivals
2: they show respect to the spirits of river ,forest and the mountain.
3: if the villagers want to cut wood from another village they pay a small fee called dand or man.
4: to protect their forest the villagers engage a watchmen and each members in th evillae have to contribute some grains to pay for them.
5:each village was aware of their boundaries . all the natural resources in that boundary were looked after the local people.

BASTAR IS A DISTRICT OF CHHATTISGARH IN CENTRAL INDIA.THE PEOPLE OF BASTAR RESPECT THE EARTH.THERE IS A TRIBE CALLED ABHUJ MARIA..THIS TRIBE DOES NOT PLOUGH THE EARTH.THEY BELIEVE THAT PLOUGHING WOULD INFLICT PAIN ON BODY OF THE EARTH .THEY USED POINTED WOOD PIECES FOR PIERCING THE EARTH FOR CULTIVATION.THEY ALSO RESPECT THE RIVER,THE FORESTS AND THE MOUNTAINS.FOR EXAMPLE,THEY RESPECT THE MAHUA TREE.THEY REVERE THE TREE SO MUCH THAT THE MARRIAGE CEREMONIES ARE PERFORMED BY GOING AROUND THIS TREE.
