Nucleus was first discovered by Robert Brown in 1831 in the root cells we can say nucleus is the director of the cell because it is the most important part of the cell which controls all the server functions which are occur in cells.

Shape : it varies widely

Generally spherical e.g., cuboidal germ cells, oval e.g., columnar cells of intestine, discoidal e.g., flat cells of endothelium, kidney shaped e.g., meganucleus of paramecium, horse - shoe shaped e.g., meganucleus of vorticella, bilobed e.g., acidophils, 3 - lobed e.g., basophil, multilobed e.g., neutrophils, long and beaded moniliform e.g., Stentor ; and branched e.g., silk - spinning cells of platyphylax insect larva.

Functions of Nucleus :

⭐ It controls cellular - differentiation.

⭐ It carries the genetic informations.

⭐ Nucleus takes part in the formation or production of ribosomes.
