The war between the British and Mysore is known as Anglo-Mysore war broke out in 1766 between the British and Haider Ali. Haider Ali was succeeded by his son Tipu Sultan. In 1799, 4th Anglo-Mysore war broke out because Tipu refused to sign the Subsidiary alliance.
Tipu was killed in the battlefield.

The Anglo-Mysore Wars were a series of wars fought during the last three decades of the 18th century between the Kingdom of Mysore on the one hand, and the British East India Company (represented chiefly by the Madras Presidency), Maratha Empire, Kingdom of Travancore and the Nizam of Hyderabad on the other.
Total Four war took place :-
- 1767–69
- 1780–84
- 1790–92
- 1799
after so many battles fought the end came and the winner was East India Company or the British
