Answer:

The Aufbau Principle states that in the ground state of an atom, an electron enters the orbital with lowest energy first and subsequent electrons are fed in the order of increasing energies. The word 'aufbau' in German means 'building up'. Here, it refers to the filling up of orbitals with electrons.

Answer:

The Aufbau principle dictates the manner in which electrons are filled in the atomic orbitals of an atom in its ground state. It was formulated by Neils Bohr and Wolfgang Pauli.  It states that electrons are filled into atomic orbitals in the increasing order of orbital energy level. According to the Aufbau principle, the available atomic orbitals with the lowest energy levels are occupied before those with higher energy levels.

In German, the word aufbau means bulid or construct.
