There were three friends Somi, Anil and Rusty is the narrator.

Anil and Somi were good swimmers.

Their physical structure was strong.

Anil and Somi were very good in catching fish.

Somi, joined the military service and developed a fierce military moustache after his matriculation.

Anil on the other hand had became a successful businessman  turned  fierce, cruel, impulsive angry man.

Anil lived in a crowded lane of Dila Ram Bazaar, Dehradun. As a kid he was wild and dangerous, subject to sudden changes of moods and impulses. Anil had a sense of fun and an instinct for adventure. He had long legs and arms. Probably Anil became a successful businessman after leaving the town with his family.

Somi

Somi was sensitive and very gentle as a child. He also had a sense of fun and an instinct for adventure like Anil. He was the best swimmer among the three friends. Somi joined the military service and developed a fierce military mustache after his matriculation.
