  • The matrix of bone consists of an organic compound called "Ossein" along with "Collagen fibres".

  • The major component of bone is Hydrated Calcium Phosphate.

  • Bone consists of Fluorides, Sulphates, Magnesium salts and some Carbonates.

  • "Collagen Protien" makes about 33% of the bone.

  • During ageing, the proportion of Protien in a bone decreases which as a result, makes the bone brittle.

  • Bones are almost completely covered by a dense, white fibrous sheath known as "Periostium".

  • The medullary or marrow cavity of a bone is lined with "Endosteum".
