- The matrix of bone consists of an organic compound called "Ossein" along with "Collagen fibres".
- The major component of bone is Hydrated Calcium Phosphate.
- Bone consists of Fluorides, Sulphates, Magnesium salts and some Carbonates.
- "Collagen Protien" makes about 33% of the bone.
- During ageing, the proportion of Protien in a bone decreases which as a result, makes the bone brittle.
- Bones are almost completely covered by a dense, white fibrous sheath known as "Periostium".
- The medullary or marrow cavity of a bone is lined with "Endosteum".
