The features of Prochordates are :

i) The organisms that belongs to prochordates do not have brain in their body system. Since they lack brain they are named as acrania.

ii) This phylum is classified into 3 sub phylums. These are -

1. Hemichordata

They lack backbone and the organisms are mainly found in the marine conditions.

They have stomochord in them which is persistent.

2. Cephalochordata

In this sub phylum, small fishes are included which do not have paired dorsal fin.

3. Urochordata

In this, the notochord is confined to the larva's tail region.
