The outbreak of the revolutionary protest in France was a result of social, political, economic, intellectual factors. These where as follows:

1. social cause - the friends society was divided into three estates. The first and second States with exempted from payment of state taxes. The third estate consisted of lower and middle class. They very presented by educated and prosperous members who were taxed the most. They where also the night political rights and social statuses.
2. political cause - Louis XVI was an autocratic ruler who led a luxurious life. People demanded a change in the system of administration.
3. economic cause - The treasury was empty on account of long wars, involvement in American war, luxurious lifestyle and faulty system of taxation. The state was also in great debt.
4. influence of philosophers and writers- French philosophers like Rousseau, Voltair Mirabeau give out ideas which inspired people with the idea of Liberty, equality and fraternity.
5. immediate cause - Financial bankrupt forced Louis XVI to call an assembly of the 'Estates General' to pass propaganda for new taxes. The people demanded new voting method where each member should have one vote. This late to agitation among the people and become the immediate cause of the revolution.
