on 5th May 1789 Louis XVI call together an assembly to pass purposes for new taxes the estates general was a political body the three estates sent their representatives to this body each of the three estates had one vote each the first estate & second estate sent 300 representatives & the third estate sent 600 representatives new taxes could be proposed only after the estates general gave its approval to the king's proposal the members of the third estate walked out when their demand of voting right was rejected by the king ,they demanded that voting be conducted by the assembly as a whole where each member would have one vote on June 20 the assembled in the Hall Of an indoor tennis court in the grounds of Versailles llanswar not to disperse Till they declared themselves a National Assembly & swore not to disperse till they had drafted a constitution for France that would limit the powers of king on July 14 they stormed and destroyed the Bastille on August 14 1789 the Assembly passed a decree abolishing the feudal system of obligations and Taxes members of the clergy to have forced to give up their privileges
