For five long years, Ali had no news of his daughter Miriam for whose sake he dragged along a cheerless existence. He went daily to the post office hoping that his letter would come one day which arrived after his death. Hence, by going daily to the post office in these circumstances, the post office became a pilgrimage for him.

Ali had only child; a daughter named Mirium. She was married to a soldier. After marriage she left to live with her father Ali loved her so much. He had not heard from her for last 5 years. Ali used to visit Post office daily in spite of old age and harsh weather. His immense hope and faith that one day a letter from his beloved daughter would definitely come thus the journey has been describe as a place of pilgrimage. So the post office become a religious place for him.
