France in the 18th century had many revolutionary thinkers. Among them were voltaire ,Rosseasu , Montesquieu and Dideriot . Their revolutionary ideas encouraged people to fight for their rights. Montesquieus philosophy outlined constitutional monarchy and division of powers.

Philosophers like John Locke, in his book Two Treaties of Government refused the doctrine of divine and absolute right of monarch. Montesquie in his book named The Spirit of the Laws proposed a division of power within the government between the legislature ,the executive, the judiciary. In the book Social Contract, Rousseau demanded that voting should be conducted by the assembly as a whole,where each person had one vote.

This made people aware of the happenings and strengthened the feeling of nationalism among them.
