Organisms reproduce by asexual means too. Fungi multiply and spread easily due to the millions of asexual spores they produce. In lower organisms like yeast and hydra ,we observe budding. In planaria we observe true regeneration i.e.,a fragmented organism regenerates the lost part of its body and becomes a new organism. The fungi,filamentous algae,protonema of mosses all easily multiply by fragmentation.
asexual reproduction is by the production of different types of spores in,algae. The,most common is zoospores. They are flagellated and on germination gives rise to new plants. Vegetative reproduction in algae is by the production of fragments in their body which will ultimately gets separated and will grow as a new one.
asexual reproduction of in liverworts takes place by fragmentation of thalli or by the formation of specialised structures called gemmae. Gemmae are green multicellular asexual buds which develop in small receptacles called gemma cups located on thalli. The gemmae become detached from the parent body and germinate to,form,new individuals.
vegetative reproduction in mosses is by fragmentation and budding in the secondary protonema.
