stomach stores the incoming food , mixes it with digestive juices and slowly empties its contents into the small intestine . The cells lining its wall secrete HCL that assists into breakdown process.

In the small intestine, the food mixed with digestive juices from the pancreas,liver and intestine . The walls of small intestine are specialized to absorbs the nutrients from the digested food into the bloodstream . The blood delivers the nutrients to various body parts .

The churning  of food takes place in inner lining of stomach. gastric glands are present in stomach which produces gastric juice. Gastric juice contains mucus, HCL, Pepsin. HCL kills germs and provides acidic medium, pepsinogen is an inactive form of pepsin. proteins are broken down into pep-tones. Mucus protects the inner lining of stomach from HCL.

Small intestine: Complete digestion takes place in small intestine. Liver produces bile juice which is stored in gallbladder. Bile juice converts acidic medium alkaline medium. Pancreas contains trypsin which breaks down leftover proteins. Amylasis breaks down leftover carbohydrates. Lipases breaks down the leftover fats.

Villi  are the finger like projection present in small intestine which helps in absorption of food. Villi are very rich in blood vessels.
