The enzyme trypsin (present in the pancreatic juice) activates the inactive enzyme chymotrypsinogen into chymotrypsin. The activated chymotrypsin plays an important role in the further breakdown of the partially-hydrolysed proteins. The other digestive enzymes of the same category are trypsinogen and carboxypeptidase.
