power is divided between the central and state government by the constitution of india in the form of three lists
Union List.. only central government can make rules on the subjects mentioned in this list
State List... only state government can make laws on the subject mentioned in this list
Concurrent List... both the governments can make laws on the subjects mentioned in this list. in case of any controversy, the decision of central government is accepted.
