Tiger(the dog)  helps him in saving his food from others which the blind man appreciates. The blind man begins to tyrannize the dog and treat him merely as a working dog who is there only to serve him. The man gradually becomes more greedy and makes Tiger work more and more to earn extra money. He begins to lend money to people on interest. With increasing greed, the blind man becomes cruel and he not only fails to acknowledge the hard work and efforts of the poor animal but also beats him often.
