1.Limewater reacts with carbon dioxide (CO2) in a two step process. Limewater is calcium hydroxide dissolved in water. So the milky appearance goes away as the insoluble CaCO3 reacts forming the soluble Ca(HCO3)2.

2.If you pass excess CO2 through lime-water, the CaCO3 reacts with the excess CO2 and water to form calcium hydrogen carbonate or calcium bicarbonate.

3.Calcium carbonate is strongly heated until it undergoes thermal decomposition to formcalcium oxide and carbon dioxide. Thecalcium oxide (unslaked lime) is dissolved in water to form calcium hydroxide (limewater). Bubbling carbon dioxide through this forms a milky suspension of calcium carbonate.
