at the point where pendulum is held above from its normal position the pendulum Bob consists of potential energy in it when the bob is released then the potential energy gets converted into kinetic energy and the same kinetic energy is consumed to overcome the friction and go ahead from its normal. and again when the bob reaches its maximum height then the potential energy again converts into kinetic energy and does the pendulum moves to and forth again and again
