Confronted by Mrs Hall, Griffin removes the bandages from his face and creates a ripple among the people at the Inn. the policeman, Jaffers comes with a warrant to arrest him, but he manages to remove all his bandages and clothes, becomes invisible and escapes from Iping. But, he needs to recover his books and belongings that he has left behind. So, he makes an accomplice out of the tramp Marvel and convinces him to accompany him to Iping. Once there, the invisible man breaks the windows of the Coach and Horses, beats up Cuss and Halls, so that Marvel is able to get his diary and belongings from them. Finally, Griffin escapes from Iping yet again.
