Hello friend,
The Sikh army become very powerful and could easily overthrow the government, so in order to secure her position and weaken the army maharani Jind Kaur, regent of Dalip Singh crossed Satluj and attacked British. Due to a certain conspiracy the Generals of thearmy did not take part in the war. The British retaliated and attacked Punjab and annexed about half of it.
The freedom loving Sikhs didnt like it and so revolted against British. The revolt was easily crushed and Punjab was fully annexxed.
Hope it helps
