The Balkans was a territory of geographic and ethnic disparity which comprise present days of , Macedonia, Albania, Greece Romania, and Bulgaria whose residents were broadly perceived as Slavs.

A substantial part of Balkans was under the command of the Ottoman Empire. The extent of views of Romantic Nationalism in the Balkans collectively with the breakdown of the Ottoman Empire made this area dangerous.

All during the 19th century, the Ottoman Empire had attempted to establish itself but The Balkan population raised their claims for sovereignty and federal rights and applied records for their rights. Balkan also converted into the display of competition among big powers.
