one evening, chuck's good hand hooked onto his dog duke's collar. it was like lighting a fuse, and made duke shimmy himself into a u-shape with anticipation. noone, not even chuck could explain his next move. he asked his wife, marcy, to help him stand up. duke pranced (probably in excitement) and chuck fought for balance. with his good hand, he put dukes leash into his left hand and folded his fingers over them, holding them there. this was no easy ordeal as chuck's whole left side was paralyzed. then he he moved his right foot in front. straightening his right leg made his left foot move forward. this could be called a step. duke pulled the leash taunt again and managed to take three more steps before falling down exhausted.
