Function of leaves

- Photosynthesis

  • the process by which plant make there own food by taking inorganic substance like sunlight , water from root of the plant , carbon dioxide through a small pore called stomata with the help of green pigmented chloroplasts present in plant .

- Transpiration

  • the process of loss of water from tiny pores (stomata) in the form of vapur because the sunlight warms that water and evaporates so the process of Transpiration is associated with the opening of the stomata to allow the diffusion of carbon dioxide gas from the air for photosynthesis. in simple word, the exchange of gaseous is taken by leaf of plant.

- Storage

  • there are some plant which store there food that is carbohydrates in the form of glucose and then starch as a reserved food. leaf also store water in it and stoneplants is the example of storage leaf .

- Defence

  • There are some plant which have sharp spines or thorns, for there protection.
