The ganga bramhaputra basin is situated at 10°N to 30°N in the sub-tropical region. The basin is formed as a result of the many tributaries from ganga and bramhaputra river.

1. The Ganga- Brahmaputra Basin is a part of the Great Northern plains of India.

2. These plains have been formed by the alluvium brought down from the Himalayas and deposited by the rivers.

3. Depositional features like flood plains, natural embankments, meanders and ox-bow lakes are common in these plains.

4. The Ganga river is the longest river in India and joined by many tributaries like Yamuna, Ghaghra , Gomti, Gandak, Kosi, Son and Damodar
