The vegetation of higher altitude consists of coniferous and tropical deciduous forests. Coniferous trees such as cedars, pines and silver fir are generally found above 1500m. At heights of about 3000m, trees give way to alpine vegetation consisting of shrubs and grasses. Alpine vegetation also consists of mosses and lichens.
