The narrator finds that both Harris and Uncle Podger readily take upon themselves the responsibility of doing task and both of them involve others in having the task done. Uncle Podger wants to take credit of doing something which he actually does not do. Once he takes up this responsibility of hanging a picture and how all the members of the family are sent to bring one thing or the other. Finally when the material is brought, Uncle Podger hammers the nail and gets hurt on his finger and the picture is dropped down. He asks for an handkerchief which is in the pocket of his coat. Everyone is engaged in finding handkerchief but he himself was sitting on the coat and finally he gets the handkerchief. When half an hour is spent in tying up his finger, the picture is back with a new frame. Again everyone makes a semi circle around and when Uncle podger is again abt to hammer the nail, the nail is lost and after a lot of effort they find the nail and the hammer is gone and when it is found the mark is lost and after a lot of effort uncle Podger measures it again. This way he had involved everyone in the task and by midnight he had completed the task.
