There are 81,000 species of fauna and 47,000 species of flora in India.

Due to this biodiversity 18 biosphere reserves have been set up in the country.

The main goal of biosphere reserves is to protect the wildlife from human interference.

It includes core zone, buffer zone etc for seperate set of activities.

Nanda Devi biosphere in Uttarakhand and Sunderbans in West Bengal.
