The incident that changed
the entire course of Helen’s life forever was her unknown illness, possibly
fever or meningitis. She was only nineteen years old when she affected by this
disease. The results of the disease were terrible because it left Helen into
deafness and blindness. Through the diseases, her entire life was changed, but
she was very intelligent and tried her best to understand everything through
touch, taste or smell.

On March 3, 1887 Miss Anne Sullivan arrived at Helen's house as a teacher. Helen's life started to transform from that day. She opened a new world for Helen. She spelled the words on her hand and taught her numerous words. Helen experienced new joy and became more confident after becoming familiar with the outside world.
