A river always rises from a mountain, resulting from the melting of a glacier. The river then flows through the various slopes of the mountain, sometimes steep, sometimes slanting, to reach the bottom of the mountain. The river gushes with great speed over the rough terrain of the mountain, often eroding and carrying soil, rocks, pebbles from the mountain and this is known as a waterfall. On reaching the foot of the mountain, the river now enters the plain land. Here the speed of the river reduces, and the river goes on depositing these debris it carries from the mountain, which is now called silt. The river keeps flowing until it reaches its mouth in a sea or ocean. Here, the river, finally before joining the sea or ocean creates a delta, a triangular piece of land, formed by the deposition of the silt.
