Forest land has decreased since 1960-61 because of increase in pressure of population on land. The ever increasing population has resulted in increased demand for land for various purposes like aricultural and non-aricultural purposes[like building, roads].

Advantage of Land Use Pattern:-

  • The use of land is determined by both physical factors such as tópography , climate, soil types as well as húman factors such as pópulation density technological capability and culture tradition etc .
  • India's total geographical area is of 3.28 million km² .
  • Land use dàta is only available for 93% it of the total geographical area of India .
  • This is because the land use reporting for most of the north east States except of Assam has not been done fully . Also the areas of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by China and Pàkistan have not been served yet .
  • The land use under permanent pàsture has also decreased , this has a major conséquences on the environment .
  • Forest area in countries for lower than the desired 33% of the geographical area as it was outlined in the National Forest Policy 1952 .
  • A part of land is termed as waste land and land put two other non agriculture uses such as wasteland includes Rócky , arid and desert areas where the land to non agriculture uses includes roads railways , etc.
