- LIFE OF MAHAVIRA
Vardhamam Mahavira was born at Kundalavana near Vishali in 540BC.
He was brought up in luxury family. He left the home at the age of 29. he mediated and led his life of severe austerity for 12 years.He attained kaivalya , So he was knows as Jina and his followers jains
Mahavira recongnised 23 other thiratans who lived before him. He won many followers as he preached in Prakrit language. He gained popularity in the states of Magadha , Kosala and Videha in North India.
Mahavira died at Pawapuri near Bihar at the age of 72.His teachings are preserved in the 12 angas
