India is a vast country which lies in the northern hemisphere.

The mainlands extends between latitudes 8 degree 4'N and 37 degree 6'N and longitudes 68 degree 7' E and 97 degree 25' E.

Tropic of Cancer(23 degree30'N) divides the country into two equal parts.

The land mass of India has an area of 3.28 million sq. kms. India has a land boundary of about 15,200 km and length of coastline including island is 7516.6km.

India is the seventh largest country of the world.
