Lungs

1)Fundamental Unit: Structural and functional unit of lungs is alveoli

2)Function: This is the place where gaseous exchange through diffusion occurs

3)Reason of Function: The blood is oxygenated during this process

4) Constitution and its shape :The right lung is short and broad(to give space for liver) it has a weight of 660 grams while the left one is long and narrow (to give space for Heart ) and weighs about 446 grams.

5)Right and left lung: The right lung has 3lobes and left has 2 lobes and the numerous fine branches that hold the alveoli are called bronchioles whereas the the major differentiation of wind pipe ( trachea ) into two pipes each for a lung is called bronchus

6 )Protected by: The lung is protected by a double layered membrane called pleura and the liquid present in it js called plueral liquid.
