The Bengal School of Art's Standout Features
Because this movement aimed to revive India's historic and mediaeval traditions, the Bengal school of painting was dubbed the Renaissance School as well as the Revivalist School.
However, it has been criticised since it returned art to the subject matter of ancient times in an imitative and uncreative manner. The paintings were simple and traditional in style, with a pleasing colour scheme. Such paintings did not employ bright colours.
Bengal painters have tried their hardest to capture the rhythm, linear grace, and poise of Ajanta in their paintings. Mughal and Rajasthani influences can also be noticed.
