Describe the main objectives of Eleventh Five Year Plan.

The main objectives of the Tenth Five-Year Plan: Attain 8% GDP growth peryear. Reduction of poverty rate by 5% by 2007. Providing gainful and high-quality employment at least to the addition to the labour force.

The main objectives of Eleventh Five Year Plan:

• Getting the GDP growth rate to 10% per annum.
• Increasing the growth rate of agriculture by 4%.
• The industrial growth rate to be increased to 10.5%.
• Reducing the ratio of poverty by 10%. Gradually increasing the focus on elementary education and making it one of the priorities of the plan.
• Reduction in the rate of population growth for the 2001-2011 census to 16% and lastly increasing the literacy rate to 85%.
• The eleventh 5-year plan was announced on 19th December 2007. It laid all the groundwork of the objectives that had to be accomplished in the upcoming 5 years.
