1. In 1956 annact was passed to declare Sinhala as official language. Tamil was rejected

Outcome
1.Relations between Sinhala and Tamil people deteriorated.
2. Civil war broke out
3. LTTE organisation fought in favour of the Tamils.
4. A demand was made to carve out a separate state fir the Tamils.
Ultimately the LTTE was dismantled and it's leader Prabhakaran was killed.
