Answer:
Make up department at the Gemini Studio looked like a hair-cutting salon; it had many mirrors and incandescent lights, which emitted much heat. It was first headed by a Bengali succeeded by a Maharashtrian who had assistants from Andhra, Burma, and Madras. The make-up department was symbolic of national integration.
The prime responsibility of make-up department was to prepare actors for shooting by applying loads of make-up on their faces. Chief make-up man did the make-up of lead actors and the assistants did make up of less important actors. On mass shooting days, the narrator also lent a helping hand to the make-up personnel.
