a soldier mangal pandey was captured n hanged since he had attacking his officers in barrackpore....later d sepoys were forced to use d new catridges which was covered with d fat of cow n pig...since indian sepoys were religious n did not want to go against their laws , they had a conflict wid d officers...d officers dismissed d service of these sepoys n sentenced 10 yr jail for these sepoys as d sepoys went against their orders...d other indian soldiers got furious n went to meerut jail, freed all d sepoys, killed british officers n set fire there...then they went to red fort in delhi were bahadus shah zafar was living n demanded to meet him...hence bahadur shah had to b d leader of d rebellion..this resulted in d great revolt of 1857
