★ what is green revolution?
☆there was increase in agricultural production as research and development in the fields of agriculture took place.
☆this involved use of HYV or high yielding variety of seeds.
☆farmers started using modern methods of irrigation and better quality pesticides, weedicides and fertilizers.
★ now, what was its significance in indian economy:
☆ the agricultural production increased because of which imports decreased and the financial economy of country started improving.
☆ farmers got profits and their chances of doing suicide reduced.
☆ as the production was more the prices of food grains went down and poor people could buy them easily.
