One day an unknown lady with dark eyes and pretty figure entered in Mr. Barthwick's house. In fact, she wanted to see Jack Barthwick who had taken her reticule which contained all her money. She asserted that she did not want to make any fuss but she had come to take her money back. Last night they had a quarrel. Jack was so drunk that he did not remember anything.
Through this meeting, Jack Barthwick's true character was revealed. It served a useful dramatic purpose also Jack was drunkard, debauch and a thief. In other words, he was as guilty as Jones.
