Her hands were in everything but nothing could hold her attention for too long as is evident from her varied interests ranging from reading to chess to sailing. Her restless spirit could not be satiated and it incessantly thirsted for things to do. Helen used to be a precocious child, playing pranks on everyone and hungry for attention. With the arrival of Miss Sullivan, she learned the importance of growing into her own. She became much calmer and quieter.

Helen was an emphatic girl. She was an eager and self asserting child. Her becoming dimmer and realizing the silence around her was a nightmare. She was not happy for a long time. She was a naughty girl. She was taking everything in the right spirit.
