Nature of panchayati Raj System;

1. Local self at village level consist of a 3 tire structure and its refereed to as Panchayati Raj .
2. This include the gram panchayat the panchayat samiti and therefore the zilla paishad and urban areas have their own munciple co-operations.
3. the gram panchayat takes care of administration and development at village level its an elected body with the sarpanch as its head the members are elected by the gram sabha which comprises all the adult members of the village.
4. the panchayat samiti is that the body at  block or taluka level its the link between the gram panchayat and district administration

The functions of panchayat bodies;

• implementing agricultural development.
• supplying beverage.
• construction and maintenance of roads.
• development of cottage industries and co-operative societies.
• running schools in villages
• starting primary health services
