Objectives of issue of debentures:

  • Debentures are like the majority of bonds which are created. These may initiate payments which are of periodic interest and are known as coupon payments. Debentures are demonstrated like the other kinds of bonds. A legal agreement which is binding between issuers of bonds and bondholders is known as an indenture. The agreement refers to the terms of a issue pertaining to debts, including the maturity date, the frequency of interest or coupon payments or the formula for finding out the interest. Debentures can be issued by both the hands of the government as well as corporations.
  • Long-term bonds are those bonds that have maturities longer than 10 years and are mostly issued by governments. These bonds of the government, which have the backing of the issuing government, are denoted as low-risk investments.
