The participation of rich and poor peasantry in civil disobedience movement:

Both the rich and the poor peasantry actively took part in Civil Disobedience Movement in India launched by Gandhiji in 1930. Civil Disobedience Movement was launched by Mahatma Gandhi in 1930 against British government.

This movement was about breaking all discriminatory rules of government. The rich peasants joined movement because they were not getting due price of their products as they were hard struck by Great Depression of 1929 and British government took no steps for their welfare.

On the other hand, poor peasants were asked to pay more taxes when they could hardly afford to meet their ends. This infuriated poor peasants and they came in huge numbers to support Gandhiji and his followers. It was because of them that Civil Disobedience Movement could become a mass movement.
