The issue that Coca-Cola Company was facing was the quality and availability of fresh water. Thegeneral public expectation is that “world’s largest beverage company” (Lawrence & Weber, 2017) should provide its customers with products free of contamination and that its production shouldn’t affect the communities around their plant. Unfortunately Coca-Cola did not meet the stakeholder’s expectation. When a group of people from areas located in their bottling plants in India brought to the public’s attention that the company had depleted local groundwater supplies for their use affecting their drinking water and irrigated resources. It was also brought to the attention that the Coca-Cola’s production was contaminated with “dangerous levels of pesticides residues” (Lawrence & Weber, 2017) also stressed the alarming shortages of water in some areas.
